What kind of tires are good for all terrain purposes? I have a Chevy Equinox and I find it hydro-slides a lot in the rain. Now that it is about to be winter I want some good tires that I can feel safe to drive in bad weather. I tried to get BF Goodrich all terrains but they don't have any that fit my car. Any recommendations? I think you have your terminology wrong. You're most likely looking for a good All season tire. All Terrain is used for mud, rocks and mild off road driving. I doubt an equinox ever leaves the pavement. No offense intended. An all terrain tire will be loud on the road and generally wear faster than a tire better suited for the street. Some of the other suggestions sound good just make sure when you go to the tire store to ask for the right thing or you maybe disappointed with your selection. The tires have ratings for wet traction, dry traction, etc on a scale of 1-10 and any tire shop has this info available just go in and ask them what would be best suited for your vehicle and conditions. Also make sure they stay properly inflated. If you hydroplane a lot your tires may be over inflated. Check inside the drivers door for the recommended tire pressure.
